How to blacklist bad zones in PropellerAds

On PropellerAds the unit that matters is the zone_id — the specific traffic source behind each click. Here's how to find the bad zones and blacklist them yourself.

1. Find the bad zones

PropellerAds passes a zone_id on every click. ValidVisit scores each click 0–100 and rolls the invalid-traffic rate up by zone, so you can rank zones by bot rate and volume and isolate the handful doing the damage.

2. Blacklist them in PropellerAds

In the PropellerAds dashboard, open the campaign's zone targeting and add the flagged zone IDs to the Exceptions / block list (blacklist). Save, and PropellerAds stops serving your ad on those zones. You can also pair the blacklist with PropellerAds' automated rules to pause zones that breach a threshold.

What ValidVisit does and doesn't do

ValidVisit detects and reports — it scores clicks and hands you the zone IDs to exclude. You apply the blacklist in PropellerAds, keeping control of your campaign. The measurement is independent of the network's own bot filtering, so it's a true second opinion.

FAQ

Where do I blacklist zones in PropellerAds?+
In the campaign's zone targeting, add zone IDs to the Exceptions / block list. PropellerAds then stops serving on those zones.
Doesn't PropellerAds already filter bots?+
It applies its own filtering, but that's the network grading its own inventory. ValidVisit gives you an independent per-zone measurement, so you can exclude zones that pass the network's filter but still underperform on your traffic.
